The Post With History In The Making

So, we had our Inter-house Futsal competition today, run simultaneously with touch rugby and tennis. We, Kaiser, had a decent team of Year 8s and 9s plus two Year 12s: Me and another guy. The kid who was supposed to be our goalie didnt turn up so I had to deputise. Luckily I anticipated this and brought my gloves.

Started off well with a tough game against eventual 2nd runner-ups Delpratt. I made a brilliant save to deny their striker =D. It finished 0-0. We followed up that good performance with an excellent one against Thorold, demolishing them 3-0. We made it three clean sheets in a row with another 0-0 draw against Melbourne. That good run ended against Biddle, with them winning 1-0. They finished second overall. Last game of the group round was against Radcliffe who had a team full of brilliant youngsters. I was severely demoralised after conceding against Biddle and made a few mistakes, one that was almost costly. A long ball sent by my friend Jay to his forwards looped over me and hit the crossbar. They scored a couple minutes later. =( But we managed to equalise in the second half. Final score: 1-1.

We finished third in the group phase so we had a 7th/8th place play-off with Maughan. Beat them comfortably 1-0 with no shots troubling me.

Weirdest game of the play-off round was Melbourne vs Atkinson. 0-0 after full time, they had an extra time period that went on forever. So in addition to the Golden Goal rule, the referee came up with the Golden Corner rule: whoever got a corner first, won. After around 20 mins of extra-time, Melbourne finally "won" by this new rule and they have made history by being the first team in the world to win by a Golden Corner.
