Post That Got Merked

(Start: 3.03am, 15th April 2008)

Was gonna sleep at midnight then wake up at this time to watch Chelsea vs Wigan, but couldn't sleep. Watched some movie called First Knight which was about King Arthur and Lancelot, played by Sean Connery and Richard Gere respectively. Match is going on on the TV in the background, voices of Andy Gray and Martin Tyler putting the game into words.

4 years, or 79 games, without a home defeat. That is a phenomenal record for any team, let alone a top-flight one. On paper, it's a sure bet that Chelsea will destroy Wigan. In reality, it might be a tough game, as Wigan will certainly give us a run for our money (and that's A LOT ofmoney). Although Avram Grant has fielded a team without Frank Lampard, Joe Cole and Didier Drogba, it is still a strong side with every player a full international. Perhaps he is looking towards Thursday's match against Everton.

10 mins have passed and the first chance of the match falls to Nicholas Anelka, who almost latched onto a long ball. But Chris Kirkland in the Wigan goal got there first and managed to clear the danger.

13th minute: Wigan's first shot of the match is volleyed very wide by some player whose name I did not catch because I was busy typing this.

I think I'll get back to the match until stuff happens...

(Oh yeah, Steve Coppell [Reading manager] and Nicklas Bendtner [Arsenal "striker"] were spotted in the stands! Possibly the East End]

17th minute: Wigan waste a corner, but from the resulting throw in, a shot from Scharner was blocked by John Terry (!!!!!!!)

To be honest, Chelsea aren't playing very well at the moment, with most chances falling to the underdogs. Meanwhile Chelsea concede another corner after Petr Cech saved a Wigan shot. Still no shots on the Wigan goal by Chelsea though. Jon is getting a tad worried.

22nd minute: More fluffed chances by Chelsea =( Will we see a goal? Its halfway through the first half and there still isn't a shot on the Wigan goal.

26th minute: FINALLY! First shot on target from Chelsea. A header from Nic Anelka was excellently saved by a backpeddling Kirkland. 2 corners in a row ensued and finally some pressure was put on Wigan.

... *yawn* 34th minute: Still nothing. Until Chelsea get a corner. Josip Skoko almost scores an own goal with a mishit clearance that goes over the crossbar.

39th minute: Counter-attack by Chelsea breaks down after Essien sends an underhit pass to Anelka.

42nd minute: Spectators going down the stairs into the hallways for a cuppa. Don't blame them, nothing's happening.

44th minute: "Hugh Grant? Thought he was a Fulham fan," said Martin Tyler. It was actually England manager, Fabio Capello. Of course.

Halftime whistle blows, and boos sound around Stamford Bridge. It has been a poor first half, so hopefully the second half will be a massive improvement. Chelsea need a win to maintain their chase for the Premier League title!

Just to point out to certain people: I wasn't, and am not, emo-ing. Jon doesn't do emo! O.O
Meanwhile later today (if everything goes to plan), I'll be going jogging/walking with le Catarina. Needed to do something other than sit at the laptop. Besides, it'll be good catching up (again) with her after our (very) recent meeting on Saturday. Loads of stuff to talk (see: bitch) about. A snippet from her Xanga site: "Gahhh it was so much fun talking about the people we know, like and loathe." Indeed!
Note: Still NOT emo-ing. Nothing has changed.
Don't know how that Nokia 2600 Classic advertisement will attract buyers. Recordable ringtones? S'not like that doesnt go on. Lol, Shebby Singh for Tactician of the Year. "Bring Malouda and Kalou off for Joe Cole and he'd do more than the both of them." I actually agree with him. Grant seems to have agreed with half of that, bringing Cole on for Malouda. Whistle sounds, second half begins, and Joe Cole has already sent a shot crashing into a Wigan defender. Sign of better things to come? We'll see...

Gonna enjoy the match, sod you guys =X
Til the final whistle!
=D !!!!!!!!!!!!! ESSIEN SCORES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (54th minute) A bit earlier, John Terry hit the bar and Kirkland makes an incredible save to deny Kalou. But sod that, WE'RE AHEAD!!!!!!! 1-0 to The Blues.
It's the 63rd minute and our Brazilian centre-back Alex seems to have taken a knock. I reckon he thinks he's a better footballer than her actually is. But he does a decent job most of the time so that's good. Especially in my Pro Evo 08 team, always getting on the end of Lampard corners. Brilliant!
...
Then all of a sudden, life is shit again. Goodnight.
